The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that the Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, is currently under investigation following a viral video that appeared to show him holding a gun-like object during a roadside encounter with another individual.

In a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police disclosed that Pastor Adefarasin voluntarily reported to the Command Headquarters in Ikeja, where he is presently being interrogated by detectives.

“Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja and is currently being interrogated by detectives who have commenced investigation into the case since a video surfaced online showing the pastor holding a gun-like object against another road user, while driving in an unregistered vehicle,” Hundeyin stated.

He assured the public that the matter is being handled according to due process, adding that “the outcome of the investigation will be made public.”

The Command also reiterated that “no one is above the law.”

The controversy began last week when a video clip began circulating on social media, showing Pastor Adefarasin inside a car, seemingly holding a metallic object while engaging with a passerby. The object, which many speculated to be a firearm, sparked widespread outrage and raised safety concerns, with growing calls for police scrutiny and accountability.

In response, Pastor Adefarasin addressed the matter on Saturday through a post shared across his social media platforms. He denied the firearm allegations, asserting that the object in question was not a weapon and that he never pointed anything threatening at anyone.

“I understand that a video is circulating that may have created a misunderstanding about an object in my hand. I want to categorically state that I did not point a firearm at anyone, nor was I in possession of a weapon,” he clarified.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
