The Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spokesman, Hakeem Amode, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside several other PDP chieftains.
At a press conference held on Monday in Ikeja, Amode announced the group’s collective decision to collapse the PDP structure in Lagos — from ward to state level — to align with Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (popularly known as Jandor), the PDP’s 2023 governorship candidate, who had earlier joined the APC.
“It is with great honour and a profound sense of responsibility that we announce this pivotal decision — one that marks a significant turning point for us and many political stakeholders who have journeyed with us over the years,” Amode stated.
He lamented that the PDP, both at the national and state levels, had deviated from its founding ideals and now faced an uncertain future.
“The PDP is in a coma and may not survive unless urgent reforms are undertaken,” he said.
Reflecting on his time in the PDP, Amode noted that while the journey was marked by both successes and challenges, the decision to move was made after thorough introspection and consultations.
“This move reflects our resolve to take control of our political destinies and better serve our people and loyal supporters,” he concluded.
