Police arrest man for killing neighbour, her son over sanitation duties in Lagos

The Lagos State Police operatives have apprehended a man identified as Vincent Ukpai for allegedly killing his neighbour, Gloria, and her young son following a dispute in the Elemoro area of Lagos.

The tragic altercation, which occurred on September 15, reportedly stemmed from an argument over cleaning duties. According to police report, the disagreement escalated into deadly violence, resulting in the deaths of both the woman and her child.

Lagos State Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that a distress call was received by the Elemoro Division at approximately 10:50 p.m. “We received information that Vincent Ukpai had killed his neighbour, Gloria, and her son during an argument over cleaning. The suspect then placed Gloria’s body in a large ‘Ghana Must Go’ bag,” Hundeyin revealed.

Police detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they arrested the suspect and recovered the bodies. The victims’ remains have been transferred to the Epe General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation.

The police have launched a thorough investigation into the incident, interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence to uncover the full details behind the gruesome crime. Hundeyin reassured the public that justice will be pursued, stating, “We are deeply saddened by this unfortunate event, and we assure the public that a comprehensive investigation is ongoing.”
