In a bid to ensure the safety and security of commuters and residents along the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode-Benin Expressway, the Ogun State Police Command has deployed a specialized Intervention Squad to prevent criminal activities, particularly kidnapping and armed robbery.

Commissioner of Police Dr Lanre Ogunlowo personally inspected the security operations at the newly established intervention post located before Odogbolu on March 19, 2025.

The outpost serves as a rapid response center for distress calls from commuters and residents, providing comprehensive coverage along the expressway.

Key security deployments include:

-Two OP MESA Security Points: Positioned inward and outward Lagos on the Long Bridge
– Shed Posts with Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC): Located at the Sagamu Interchange
– Make-shift Security Posts: Established along the Ijebu Ode-Sagamu Highway to reassure road users of the active presence of armed policemen

These measures follow an earlier surveillance operation conducted on February 27, 2025, where the Commissioner of Police identified and blocked escape routes frequently used by kidnappers.

Barriers have been erected to block unauthorized movement along footpaths used as getaway points, and access control measures have been implemented.

A Quick Intervention Squad has been permanently stationed in the area, with additional backup teams patrolling the axis in an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) stationed at the Sagamu Intersection.

The Ogun State Police Command urges members of the public to report any suspicious activities via the Command’s emergency hotlines, 08099401875 for rescue operations.
