The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has crippled a notorious kidnap gang after arresting five of its most wanted members and recovering over 2,000 rounds of live ammunition in a sting operation.

The crackdown, executed by the elite Scorpion Squad between September 20 and 28, 2025, followed weeks of intelligence tracking that led operatives to Nasarawa State. The suspects—linked to a string of high-profile kidnappings across the North Central, North West, and North East—had long been on the radar of security agencies before their capture.

According to FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, those in custody are:

  1. Abdullahi Garuba a.k.a. Alhaji Ore, male, 40 years
  2. Yusuf Inuwa a.k.a. Alhaji Dabunda, male, 59 years
  3. David Kaika a.k.a. Baba, male, 29 years
  4. Baba Imaji, female, 36 years
  5. Ibrahim Nasiru a.k.a. Pepper, male

Weapons Recovered

  • 2,186 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm AK-47 ammunition
  • Two AK-47 rifles with defaced serial numbers
  • One locally made pistol with two live cartridges

SP Adeh confirmed that the suspects confessed under interrogation and will face prosecution at the conclusion of investigations.

Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao S. Adewale, psc, mnips, hailed the operation as a major win in the fight against violent crime, assuring residents of the Command’s determination to dismantle criminal networks.

“We encourage members of the public to report suspicious movements and activities through our emergency lines to help us respond swiftly and effectively,” he said.

The Command can be reached on 08061581938, 08032003913, or the Complaint Response Unit (CRU): 08107314192.

Manhunt efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the gang.
