Members of the Take It Back Movement (TIBM) staged a peaceful protest in Lagos on Monday, despite a police warning to cancel the event.

The demonstration, which began under the Ikeja Under-Bridge, made its way to the Lagos State Government House and State House of Assembly in Alausa.

Background
The protest aimed to voice concerns over cybercrime and the perceived threat of emergency rule in Rivers State.

This move comes a day after Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun urged organizers to call off the nationwide protest, citing its coincidence with National Police Day.

Police Statement
Police spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi described the protest as “ill-timed” and “unpatriotic,” suggesting it aimed to malign the Nigeria Police and the nation.
