Renowned Nigerian evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, has passed away at the age of 80.

His family confirmed the development in a statement on Monday, announcing that the revered preacher died on October 6, 2025. They described his passing as a “glorious transition from a life of devoted service to eternal rest.”

Rev. Ukpai, often regarded as one of Nigeria’s foremost Christian evangelists, devoted more than six decades to preaching the gospel, leading crusades, and mentoring generations of believers across the country and beyond.

Celebrated for his dynamic teaching of the Word and prophetic demonstrations of God’s power, Dr. Ukpai’s ministry touched millions of lives and shaped the spiritual journey of countless individuals and families.

In their tribute, the family wrote:

“He was a faithful soldier of the cross who devoted his life to spreading the gospel with passion and integrity. His teachings, prophetic insights, and mentorship have left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire believers for years to come.”

Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai was widely recognized as a spiritual father to many within Nigeria’s Christian community. His crusades and faith-based initiatives spanned several continents, with a consistent message of hope, salvation, and national transformation through faith.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in the coming days.
