Former Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV), has berated the All Progressives Congress (APC) for failing to provide a lasting solution to the state’s recurring flooding crisis despite being in power for over two decades.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, September 23, Rhodes-Vivour sympathized with residents who endured severe flooding across the state. He noted that many had to spend their limited resources repairing damaged cars and homes, while others prayed their vehicles would survive as floodwaters rose to knee level in several areas.

“My heart goes out to all the people that would be spending their hard-earned money on car repairs and house repairs at such a difficult time in Nigeria and with school fees and other bills pending,” GRV wrote.

He added that several Lagosians were stranded late into the night due to gridlock caused by the floods.

According to him, the APC-led administration has “tried and failed” for over 20 years, offering excuses annually without producing tangible results.

“The APC Lagos have tried their best for over 20 years, every year they give you a different excuse. They have tried, they have failed. It is time to try something different. You deserve better, you can have better,” he declared, ending his post with the hashtag #OurLagos.

The statement has since drawn wide reactions online, with many Lagos residents echoing their frustrations over what has become a perennial problem.
