Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested a suspected cultist found in possession of a locally made pistol and two live rounds of ammunition inside a commercial bus at Toyota Bus Stop, Oshodi, Lagos.
The arrest took place around 10:00 p.m. last Wednesday following credible intelligence received by the squad. The suspect was taken into custody without incident, and the recovered weapon is currently in police custody.
In a separate operation, RRS operatives apprehended two suspected vehicle vandals at about 4:00 a.m. on Saturday near Otedola Bridge. The suspects, identified as Kazeem Oyebola (25) and Olamilekan Babalola (35), were caught loading six Ford Escape tyres, rims, and other vehicle parts into a Suzuki mini bus with registration number LSD 736 YK.
According to the suspects, they were allegedly contracted to move the parts from Otedola Bridge to Agege. Two of their accomplices are currently at large.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the recovered items were stolen from vehicles undergoing repairs at a mechanic workshop close to the bridge. The theft was discovered by workshop staff when they arrived on Saturday morning and found the parts missing.
RRS officers, already investigating the case, assured the affected mechanics that the stolen items had been recovered. Efforts are underway to track and arrest the fleeing suspects.
Commander of the RRS, CSP Shola Jejeloye, has reiterated the agency’s commitment to apprehending all individuals involved in the crime and ensuring justice is served.
All suspects are currently assisting the police with ongoing investigations.
