Operatives of the Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested a 47-year-old suspect, Taiwo Hassan, over the theft of goods from moving trucks in transit from Apapa and other parts of Lagos.
Hassan was apprehended at about 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2025, at Costain while offloading stolen goods from a truck onto another vehicle.
The arrest followed sustained intelligence-led operations targeting a notorious gang known for stealing consignments from moving trucks during late-night transits. Investigations revealed that the gang strategically targets trucks transporting goods out of Lagos, offloading items into getaway vehicles without the drivers’ knowledge.
Recovered from the suspect’s Sienna vehicle were 10 cartons of Top Café 3-in-1 coffee, seven Littmann Classic II stethoscopes, several doctors’ manuals, medical textbooks, and two pouches of theatre kits.
One of Hassan’s accomplices, identified as Sheriff, fled the scene on sighting the police and is currently on the run.
Commander of the RRS, CSP Shola Jejeloye, has ordered the immediate arraignment of the suspect while assuring the public that efforts are underway to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
