At about 12:20 p.m. on Thursday, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on routine patrol successfully rescued an elderly woman who attempted to jump into the lagoon from Carter Bridge, Lagos.
The woman was immediately taken to the RRS Headquarters, where the Commander, CSP Shola Jejeloye, engaged her in a calm and compassionate discussion to understand the circumstances surrounding her distress.
Recognizing the need for a holistic approach, CSP Jejeloye invited the woman’s husband and their 30-year-old son to the headquarters. The family was granted a private meeting to address and resolve their internal issues.
Following the family dialogue, the RRS Commander offered extensive counseling to the woman and provided her with a cash gift to support her recovery and well-being. Deeply moved by the empathy and swift action of the RRS team, the family expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Commander for his intervention, words of encouragement, and financial assistance.
The woman was later released into the care of her husband and son.
