The office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has been unsealed by the National Assembly’s sergeant-at-arms, months after it was locked following her suspension from the red chamber.
The office, located in Suite 2.05 of the senate wing, had remained sealed since March 6, 2025. In a video released on Tuesday, Alabi Adedeji, deputy director in the sergeant-at-arms unit, was seen peeling off the red seal from the door.
“I, Alabi Adedeji, deputy director, sergeant-at-arms, hereby unseal the office. The office is hereby unsealed. Thank you,” he declared in the 25-second clip.
It is unclear, however, whether the move restores Akpoti-Uduaghan’s access to the office or the National Assembly complex, as the senate has yet to issue a formal resolution.
On September 9, the assembly barred her from resuming duties, insisting her six-month suspension remains under litigation.
The senator was suspended on March 6 for alleged breaches of senate standing rules. But on July 4, a federal high court declared the suspension excessive and unconstitutional.
Despite the ruling, the National Assembly management has maintained that Akpoti-Uduaghan cannot resume without either a fresh resolution or a definitive court order.
