FIFA has announced that Nigeria’s Super Eagles are now ranked 45th in the world.

The body explained that the team’s points dropped slightly from 1484 in July to 1483 in September.

According to FIFA, the new position reflects Nigeria’s recent results, which include a draw with South Africa, wins over Rwanda and Congo, and defeats to Sudan and Senegal.

The organisation stated that the September 2023 rankings were published on its official website.

FIFA further noted that Nigeria placed 6th in Africa, behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Cote d’Ivoire.

It added that Spain overtook Argentina to reclaim the top spot for the first time since 2014, while Slovakia made the biggest move by jumping 10 places to 42nd.

The body revealed that more than 200 international matches since the last update influenced the current standings.
