In a decisive step towards reinvention, 9mobile has officially rebranded as T2, marking the start of a new era in its corporate journey. The transformation—announced at a high-profile Lagos event—signals a shift from recovery to growth, with a renewed focus on innovation, customer experience, and digital lifestyle leadership.

The rebrand forms part of a four-phase corporate recovery roadmap—Stabilisation, Modernisation, Transformation, and Growth—initiated after the 2023 acquisition of 9mobile by Lighthouse Telecoms, led by business leader and investor Thomas Etuh.

Since the takeover, the company has overhauled its leadership, revamped its board, and signed a landmark infrastructure-sharing agreement with MTN Nigeria—a first at scale in the country—significantly boosting network coverage, capacity, and resilience nationwide.

Now in the “Transformation” phase, T2 aims to position itself as a forward-thinking, tech-driven, and customer-centric brand attuned to Nigeria’s mobile-first population.

“This is not just a logo change—it’s a total evolution of who we are, why we exist, and how we deliver value,” said Obafemi Banigbe, CEO of T2. “We are building a brand ready to thrive in the digital economy.”

Chairman Thomas Etuh described the rebrand as “a rebirth” and thanked stakeholders, regulators, and customers for their resilience through challenges, including protracted litigations. “Together, we are reclaiming all lost grounds,” he affirmed.

Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, urged T2 to make the change more than cosmetic:

“Let it be a renewed commitment to innovation, service excellence, and the millions who depend on your network.”

The phased rollout will ensure service continuity while gradually introducing customers to the T2 vision, anchored on four pillarsSpeed, Smart Living, Digital Lifestyle, and Trust.

With the telecoms sector entering a new decade of transformation, T2 says it is not just rebranding to keep pace but to lead the charge into Nigeria’s digital future.
