The Christian community in Nigeria has been thrown into mourning following the passing of Pastor Nkechi Ene, the presiding pastor of The Carpenter’s Church, Port Harcourt.

According to an official statement signed by Pastor Sola Akinwale on behalf of the church, Pastor Ene “passed into glory” on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. The church described her death as a painful loss and a shock to members across the world.

Pastor Ene reportedly returned to Nigeria after a successful and extensive ministry trip marked by “miracles and testimonies.” However, she suffered a sudden health crisis while in Lagos.

In the statement, the church said it takes solace in the assurance of God’s goodness and faithfulness despite the devastating news.

“As our hearts hurt and questions assail our minds while we process this shocking news, we rest assured in the unwavering truth that God is the good God and His mercies endure forever,” the statement read.
“Pastor is in a better place, for to be with Christ is far better.”

Described as a woman of great faith and a passionate teacher of God’s Word, Pastor Ene devoted her life to serving God and humanity. The church praised her as “one of the great generals of God in our generation,” noting her impact, selfless service, and deep love for people.

The church called on members to uphold Pastor Ene’s husband, Bro. Emeka Ene, and their daughters—Zoe, Chloe, Tracy, and Osi—in prayers, as well as her mother, Ma. Mercy Chijioke, and other family members.

“Despite the void of her departure, we are grateful to God for an excellent and productive life well lived,” the statement added.
“Though now absent from us, her impact and legacy endure in our hearts and in our lives.”

The Carpenter’s Church said it is relying on the Holy Spirit for comfort and strength during this difficult time.

Pastor Nkechi Ene was widely known for her dynamic preaching, practical teaching of the Word, and leadership in advancing the gospel through The Carpenter’s Church and its global ministries.

“Praise God! Praise God! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! He is faithful,” the statement concluded.
