A pall of sadness has fallen over the Lagos State civil service following the tragic death of Mrs. Serifat Olubukola Talabi, Director of Procurement at the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA).

Mrs. Talabi reportedly lost her life on Saturday, October 18, 2025, after being hit by a vehicle while attempting to cross the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Camp in Ibafo, Ogun State.

The incident occurred just four days before her planned retirement and 60th birthday celebration — a double milestone she had eagerly anticipated. She had sent out invitations for her “Thanksgiving Retirement and 60th Birthday” event scheduled for Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the NERDC Conference Centre in Ikeja, Lagos.

Friends, colleagues, and family members have described the late director’s death as a heartbreaking twist of fate. “She was so full of life, counting down to her big day,” a source close to the family said.

Tributes have continued to pour in from various departments and agencies of the Lagos State Government, many expressing shock and sorrow over the untimely passing of a respected and dedicated public servant.

Mrs. Talabi is remembered for her professionalism, warmth, and years of selfless service to the state.
