A two-storey building under construction has collapsed during the decking process at Craig Street, Shomolu area of Lagos State.

The collapsed structure was one of two buildings being constructed on the site. As of the time of filing this report, the exact cause of the collapse remains unknown.

Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were recorded, as construction workers managed to flee the site before the arrival of emergency responders.

However, the building’s pillars fell on a nearby church, partially damaging the structure. Miraculously, worshippers in the church also escaped unhurt.

Emergency personnel conducted a thorough search of the area to ensure no individuals were trapped beneath the rubble. The construction site has since been cordoned off.

Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) also carried out public sensitisation on the dangers of approaching collapsed structures and emphasized safety precautions to nearby residents.
