Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has apologized for the severe traffic congestion caused by the closure of the Independence Bridge, connecting Victoria Island (from Bonny camp) to Lagos Island (Marina). The bridge, one of the oldest in the country, requires urgent repairs.
To mitigate the traffic crisis, Sanwo-Olu announced plans to:
– Clean up alternative routes to ensure smoother traffic flow
– Deploy additional traffic officers and security operatives to maintain order
– Encourage offices to adopt remote work arrangements to reduce traffic volume
The Governor appealed to Lagos residents to continue obeying traffic rules, ensuring a smoother commute for all.
