David Adeleke, the Afrobeats superstar, has written a heartfelt tribute celebrating Asa Asika, his longtime manager and close friend, on the occasion of Asa’s traditional wedding to fiancée Leonna Adesanya.
The couple tied the knot in a stunning ceremony held in Lagos on Saturday, surrounded by friends, family, and well-wishers.
Taking to his X page, Adeleke publicly known as Davido reflected on their remarkable journey from humble beginnings to global success. In a deeply emotional post, the “Be There Still” hitmaker reminisced on how he and Asa built their careers from the ground up, overcoming countless challenges and remaining true to their roots.
“Nothing was handed to us. We built this — through fire, through faith, through a bond that never broke,” he wrote. “We didn’t chase the spotlight. We stayed rooted. Loyal to our story, loyal to our people.”
Davido described Asa as more than a manager — calling him a brother, a shield, and a source of stability through both triumphs and trials.
“You’ve been my sanity. My brother in every battle. When the lights were off and it got dark, you stayed. And even now, with the world at our feet — you’re still that same solid soul I started with,” he said.
He also praised Leonna, thanking her for bringing out the best in Asa and becoming the heart of their shared legacy.
“Leonna, thank you. For loving him the way we all hoped someone would. You didn’t just join the journey — you became its purpose. You brought him home to himself,” Davido wrote.
The singer closed his message with a vow to protect the love and legacy Asa and Leonna have built, emphasizing that their story is proof success doesn’t require sacrificing one’s soul or culture.
“This wedding, it’s not just love. It’s legacy… That brotherhood can survive success. That culture can be kept, not just worn… And standing next to you today, I feel something no award can give me. I feel home. Forever beside you, David.”
