he Ebonyi governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ifeanyi-Chukwuma Odii, has promised free education, affordable healthcare services, agricultural transformation and industrialisation, if elected governor in 2027.
Odii, popularly known as “AnyinChuks” made the pledge at a pre-campaign council and strategic stakeholders’ meeting on Thursday in Abakaliki.
The PDP Candidate, represented by the Party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr Darlington Onwe said his campaign would be strictly issue-based and devoid of hate, intimidation and violence.
He said his blueprint, “A Promise of Possibility,” was aimed at transforming Ebonyi into an industrialised, innovation-driven and investment-ready economy.
Odii promised free and compulsory education from primary to secondary school and free tertiary education for Ebonyi indigenes studying medicine, specialised sciences and critical technology fields.
He also pledged to transform agriculture from subsistence farming to agri-business, through farmer income stabilisation schemes, social safety nets, agro-processing plants and an Agro-Industrial Park for major crops.
On healthcare, he promised to expand affordable services across the 13 Local Government Areas (LGAs) to reduce the financial burden of illness on families.
The PDP candidate said his administration would also leverage the state’s solid mineral resources and digital and creative economies, while introducing merit-based recruitment, transparent financial management and performance-based governance.
Odii further announced plans to empower 20 persons in each ward across the state as part of preparations for the campaign, with additional empowerment programmes at polling-unit level.
He said the state-level campaign launch would be followed by campaigns at the local government and ward levels.
“We are driven by service to humanity. Together, we will rescue Ebonyi, restore our shared prosperity and leave no one behind,” Odii said.
