The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted more than 7.6 million tramadol pills and over 76,000 kilograms of cannabis, including Colorado, Loud, and Skunk, during a series of intelligence-driven raids across multiple states.
According to the agency, the operations—conducted in Delta, Imo, Adamawa, Ekiti, Ondo, Kano, Lagos, the FCT, Niger, and Edo—also resulted in the destruction of large drug warehouses hidden in forests and the arrest of several members of drug trafficking syndicates.
A major breakthrough was recorded on Saturday, 6 December 2025, when operatives uncovered a warehouse at Oko Market in Asaba, Delta State, where 3.8 million pills of tramadol (225mg and 100mg) and 252.2 litres of codeine syrup were recovered.
Earlier, on 3 December, NDLEA officers in Imo State intercepted a vehicle conveying 1.2 million tramadol 225mg tablets, leading to the arrest of 35-year-old Kelechi Nwakocha.
In Adamawa State, officers on 1 December intercepted a Toyota Hiace loaded with 1,577,112 capsules of tramadol and Exol-5, concealed in jumbo bags alongside new rubber sandals. Kabiru Buba (25) and Hamza Abubakar (32) were arrested. Another suspect, Mudansir Rabiu (27), was caught along the Zaria–Kano road with 197,000 Exol-5 pills.
NDLEA’s special operations unit also stormed drug warehouses hidden deep inside forests. In Omuo-Ekiti, officers destroyed 14,654kg of skunk and arrested two men, while in Asin-Ekiti, Ikole LGA, they destroyed 54,300kg of cannabis and recovered 28.3kg for prosecution.
In Ondo State, a raid in Igoba Forest, Akure North LGA, yielded 2,483 compressed blocks and 247 bags of skunk, weighing 5,442kg. Five suspects—aged 24 to 66—were arrested.
Other major seizures include:
• 500kg of skunk recovered along Mokwa–Jebba road in Niger State, leading to the arrest of Amos Yakubu (46).
• 22kg of Colorado intercepted in the FCT, followed by the arrest of a female receiver, 33-year-old Ali Blessing, at Jabi Park.
• More arrests in Abuja, including Aliyu Usman (39) with 24kg of skunk and 573,500 Exol-5 pills.
• In Lagos, the arrest of suspects at Ladipo Market, Onipanu, and Trade Fair, with combined seizures exceeding 568kg.
• In Edo State, 447.5kg of skunk recovered from two vehicles in Agho Forest, Akoko Edo LGA, and 315.8kg seized from a warehouse in Isiefve community, leading to multiple arrests.
Meanwhile, NDLEA commands across the country continued their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation campaigns, engaging schools, religious centres, workplaces, and communities in Kano, Benue, and Rivers States.
NDLEA Chairman/CEO, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended officers for their “balanced approach to drug supply reduction and demand-reduction efforts,” noting that the series of successful operations demonstrate the agency’s strengthened anti-narcotics strategy.
