The Federal High Court in Lagos has remanded a 35-year-old woman, Ifeoma Nwafor, at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre over alleged cyberstalking of the Managing Director of Eleganza Industrial City Limited, Mrs Folashade Okoya.
Nwafor was arraigned on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and cyberstalking. She pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Justice Deinde Dipeolu granted the defendant bail in the sum of N3m, with two sureties in like sum, but ordered that she remain in custody pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions.
The police alleged that Nwafor and others, who are still at large, conspired in June 2026 at Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos, to commit a felony against Okoya, the wife of billionaire industrialist Razaq Okoya.
According to the prosecution, Nwafor used several Instagram accounts, including @cutie_juis, @truestorieswithifeomafa and @truestorieswithifeomafans, to publish materials described as offensive, false, malicious and calculated to cause annoyance, fear, intimidation, anxiety and ridicule to Okoya.
The police also alleged that pictures of Okoya were published alongside materials they said were defamatory and derogatory.
The prosecution said the alleged offences contravened Sections 516 and 24(2)(1)(a) and (b) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
Following her plea, Nwafor’s lawyer, O.J. Aduwa, applied for bail, citing Sections 35(4), 36(1) and 36(5) of the Constitution. He assured the court that his client would make herself available throughout the trial.
Prosecution counsel, Stanley Nwafoaku of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Alagbon, Ikoyi, did not oppose the bail application.
In granting bail, Justice Dipeolu ordered that the two sureties must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction, with one being a blood relation of the defendant.
The sureties must also provide evidence of three years’ tax payment, their National Identification Numbers and photographs, as well as affidavits of compliance.
The judge further directed Nwafor to depose to an affidavit undertaking to attend the trial.
Until the bail conditions are perfected, however, she will remain at the Kirikiri Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
Nwafor told the court that she is from Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State but was born in Lagos. She said she attended Christian Council of Nigeria Primary School and Roxton International School before graduating from Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Osun State.
The case was adjourned until November 8, 2026, for trial.
