World heavyweight boxing star Anthony Joshua was involved in a road traffic accident on Sunday, December 29, 2025, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, with reports indicating that two people lost their lives in the incident.

The crash occurred in the Makun area of Ogun State, where Joshua’s vehicle reportedly collided with another car on the busy highway. The exact cause of the accident remains unclear and is currently under investigation by relevant authorities.

Eyewitnesses at the scene said two occupants of the other vehicle died on the spot. Joshua was said to have sustained only minor injuries.

The boxer, who is visiting Nigeria, had earlier been seen in Lagos interacting with fans and visiting a barbing salon, fuelling public interest in the incident after news of the crash broke.

Emergency responders, including officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), were deployed to the scene to attend to victims, evacuate the injured, and manage traffic congestion caused by the accident. Efforts were also made to clear the wreckage from the expressway, which is notorious for frequent and often fatal crashes.

As of the time of filing this report, neither Joshua’s camp nor the police had issued an official statement confirming details of the incident. Investigations are ongoing.
