Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, popularly known as Grace Nation, Pastor Chris Okafor, failed to appear for a scheduled police interview over allegations of multiple rape and other serious offences, reliable sources have confirmed.

The Lagos State Police Command had invited Okafor to report at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, by 10:00 a.m. on Monday, where he was expected to meet with the Deputy Commissioner of Police heading the investigation.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, had ordered a comprehensive investigation into the allegations, which include alleged sexual offences and other acts deemed capable of breaching public peace.

However, a senior police source at the SCID, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told our correspondent that the pastor did not show up as expected. Officers reportedly waited throughout the day, but Okafor never appeared.

Another source revealed that individuals acting on the pastor’s behalf later contacted the police to request more time, assuring investigators that he would eventually present himself.

The police command has since stated that adequate security arrangements have been put in place for alleged victims and has encouraged them to come forward to assist with the investigation. Authorities also assured that the identities of victims and witnesses would be strictly protected.

As of the time of filing this report, however, no individual has officially come forward to identify as a victim or witness in the case.

The controversy surrounding Okafor began in mid-December 2025, following a wave of allegations on social media. Among them were claims by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, who alleged she was in a long-term relationship with the pastor and accused him of reneging on marriage promises and sharing explicit materials.

On New Year’s Day, Okafor addressed his congregation, admitting to past “mistakes” and seeking forgiveness. He was seen kneeling before worshippers in what appeared to be a public apology.

The unfolding scandal has reportedly led church authorities to consider disciplinary measures, with sources indicating that Okafor has stepped aside from active pastoral duties pending the outcome of investigations.
