Lagos State University (LASU) will graduate 20,604 students at its 29th and 30th Combined Convocation Ceremonies for the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, disclosed this on Wednesday at a news conference at the university’s main campus in Ojo, describing the ceremonies as historic and a reflection of LASU’s commitment to academic stability and institutional growth.
For the 2024/2025 session, 947 students graduated from diploma programmes, while 7,621 completed first-degree programmes. The university also recorded 262 first-class graduates.
Ayilara Olawale of the Department of Project Management emerged the overall best graduating student for the session with a CGPA of 4.96.
For the 2025/2026 session, 44 students graduated from diploma programmes, while 8,653 students completed first-degree programmes, including 232 first-class graduates.
Adebanjo Samuel of the Department of Aerospace Engineering emerged as the overall best graduating student for the session, with a CGPA of 4.97.
The university will also confer postgraduate qualifications on 3,383 graduates across the two sessions. They include 618 postgraduate diploma, 1,508 academic master’s, 900 professional master’s, 238 Ph.D. and 119 professional doctoral graduates.
Olatunji-Bello congratulated the graduands and commended their parents, guardians, lecturers and other university staff for their contributions to the students’ achievements.
The convocation ceremonies will also mark Olatunji-Bello’s final ceremonies as Vice-Chancellor of LASU.
