The Lagos State Government has announced that all public and private primary and secondary schools, including government technical colleges, will resume for the second term of the 2025/2026 academic session on Monday, January 12, 2026.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Deputy Director, Public Affairs, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Kayode Sutton. He said the resumption date aligns with the approved Lagos State School Calendar and that all schools are expected to begin academic and administrative activities immediately.
Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, urged school authorities to strictly comply with approved public health and safety guidelines ahead of reopening to ensure a safe learning environment.
He also disclosed that government officials have been deployed to monitor and inspect schools across the state to ensure full compliance with safety standards.
The ministry thanked teachers, parents and guardians for their continued support and called on them to ensure pupils and students are well prepared for the new term.
