Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been arraigned before the Ogun State High Court sitting in Onipanu, Ota, on charges of assault, felony occasioning harm, and resisting arrest.

Prosecutors alleged that Portable attacked one of his wives, Ashabi, and obstructed a female police inspector, Ogungbe Olayemi, while she was carrying out her official duties. He was also accused of assaulting the police officer during the incident.

In addition, the singer was accused of attacking other individuals at his Odogwu bar on New Year’s Day.

Although Ashabi was absent from court, her two siblings appeared as witnesses. During the proceedings, Portable was visibly emotional and reportedly broke down in tears.

His counsel applied for bail, but the presiding judge declined to grant the request, noting that the assaulted police officer was not present in court. The judge said he must hear from the officer before making a decision on the bail application.

Portable was subsequently remanded in custody and is expected to return to court on January 19, when his bail application will be considered.
