Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has approved the recruitment of 150 new personnel into the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) as part of efforts to enhance emergency response and public safety across the state.
The Controller General of the agency, Margaret Adeseye, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Lagos. She said the fresh intake reflects the state government’s continued commitment to building a resilient, well-equipped and professionally trained fire and rescue service.
According to Adeseye, the recruitment builds on earlier landmark engagements under the Sanwo-Olu administration, including the enlistment of 100 firefighters in 2020 and 435 firefighters in 2022—the largest single recruitment exercise in the history of the Lagos State Fire Service.
She explained that the newly recruited firefighters, employed in November 2025, have commenced intensive training at the upgraded LSFRS Fire Academy. The trainees are currently undergoing the Professional Basic Firefighting Competency and Short Service Course.
Adeseye reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s resolve to continue investing in human capacity development, modern infrastructure and operational equipment to strengthen emergency preparedness and ensure the safety of residents across the state.
