Lagos confirms investigation after marathon ambulance ran over woman

The Lagos State Government has commenced an investigation into an incident involving an ambulance at the finishing area of the 11th , which took place on Saturday.

In a statement issued by the commissioner for information and strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotosho, an ambulance deployed for official medical emergency response during the marathon was involved in an incident in which a female non-athlete within the event arena was ran over came by the vehicle. The ambulance was reportedly conveying athletes who had earlier required medical attention.

According to the commissioner, event officials immediately alerted the ambulance crew to stop after noticing the situation. The emergency medical team promptly assessed the affected individual and provided on-the-spot care before transferring her to a public health facility for further evaluation.

According to the statement, the woman sustained bruises and complained of chest pains but was stabilised at the scene, with her vital signs confirmed to be stable. She is currently receiving medical care and is responding positively to treatment.
