The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has announced plans to begin a targeted compliance exercise tagged “Show Your PSP Payment Receipt” across the Apapa-Iganmu axis.

Speaking during a monitoring tour of the Lagos-Badagry transit corridor on Saturday, LAWMA’s Managing Director/CEO, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, said the initiative aims to address indiscriminate waste disposal by ensuring property-level compliance with Private Sector Participant (PSP) waste collection payments.

He explained that the operation would involve routine inspections requiring residents, commercial establishments, and business operators to provide proof of registration and payment to their designated PSP operators.

According to him, the exercise is intended to identify properties without valid PSP arrangements and bridge service gaps that often lead to illegal dumping and the emergence of refuse blackspots.

Gbadegesin stressed that maintaining a clean environment is a collective responsibility, noting that efficient waste management depends on both residents fulfilling their obligations and operators delivering consistent service.

He urged households and businesses in Apapa-Iganmu to regularise their PSP payments and adopt proper waste storage practices ahead of the enforcement drive.
