The Special Adviser to the President on Public Communications and Orientation, Sunday Dare, has explained why President Bola Tinubu was absent from a scheduled project commissioning in Lagos.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Wednesday, Dare said the President was preoccupied with pressing national security matters, which required his immediate attention.
According to him, although Tinubu was in Lagos, he had been engaged in high-level state duties beyond public appearances.
“Yes, the President is in Lagos, and I’m sure beyond the pictures, you know that the President has been busy with state matters,” Dare said.
He noted that recent security developments across parts of the country, including attacks in Jos and other areas, necessitated ongoing consultations and briefings.
“You will know the last 10 days, right from the attack in Jos, we’ve seen the developments,” he added.
Dare explained that the President had been receiving constant security updates and working closely with the intelligence community, stressing that national security remains a top priority.
“He has been busy taking constant briefs and has to prioritise when it comes to state matters, especially security,” he said.
Tinubu was, however, represented at the commissioning of roads, bridges, and public buildings by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
