President Bola Tinubu has endorsed Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Lagos State.
The endorsement was made during a meeting with the party’s Governance Advisory Council (GAC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Hamzat was presented to the President by the GAC, led by its chairman, Tajudeen Olusi, who described the decision as a consensus among party elders.
The move follows growing political support within the state, including backing from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and unanimous adoption by the 34-member council. Despite objections from some aspirants, the GAC maintains that the process remains inclusive.
The APC has stated that primaries will still be conducted in line with party guidelines, with the governorship contest slated for May 21.
