All the pupils and teachers who were kidnapped in Orire, Oyo State, have been rescued by Nigerian security agencies, the Presidency has announced.

Presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed the development on Friday in a post on his Facebook page, confirming that the abductees had regained their freedom.

“Finally, all the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo have been rescued by our security agencies,” Onanuga wrote.

The Presidency, however, did not provide details of the rescue operation or disclose whether any arrests were made or if ransom was paid before the victims were freed.

The rescue brings an end to the ordeal of the pupils and teachers who were abducted during the attack in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State, a development that had sparked widespread concern and renewed calls for stronger security measures in schools and communities.
