A trailer carrying cartons overturned on Ogunnusi Road inward Berger after a mechanical failure, causing heavy traffic and prompting diversion by LASTMA officials.
Commuters heading towards Berger on Sunday morning were stranded after a trailer loaded with cartons overturned on Ogunnusi Road near Kosoko Junction, triggering a major traffic gridlock.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said the incident occurred in the early hours of the day after the trailer suffered a mechanical failure.
According to the agency, the vehicle’s suspension springs were damaged, causing the trailer body to collapse onto its tyres and overturn.
LASTMA immediately deployed its rescue team and traffic officers to the scene to manage traffic and coordinate recovery operations.
To ease congestion, the authority cordoned off the affected section of the road from the Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) Turning and introduced a contraflow from VIS Turning to River Valley.
The agency said efforts were ongoing to transfer the trailer’s cargo onto a flatbed truck to enable the removal of the overturned vehicle and restore normal traffic flow.
LASTMA added that recovery operations were still in progress and assured motorists that further updates would be provided as the situation develops.
