The Lagos State Police Command has detained four officers captured in a viral video allegedly harassing a young man in the Odoguyan area of Ikorodu.

The command also announced the disbandment of the tactical team to which the officers belonged, pending disciplinary proceedings.

The police spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement on Friday night, saying the officers were identified following an investigation into the incident.

According to her, the officers were summoned to the office of the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, on Friday, where it was decided that they should be detained for further investigation and disciplinary action.

“The verdict was that these officers would be detained immediately, pending disciplinary proceedings. Also, the entire team will be disbanded,” Adebisi said.

She stressed that the command would not tolerate misconduct or impunity among its personnel, regardless of their rank or assignment.

Adebisi said Tijani had, upon assuming office, directed officers to discharge their duties with integrity and humility.

She urged residents to report any police officer whose conduct violated established rules and directives.

The spokesperson also commended residents and community members whose cooperation helped identify the officers captured in the viral video.

She encouraged the public to continue providing credible information to help the command address misconduct and improve security across the state.
