Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has declared that he would be unbeatable in any free and fair election in Nigeria if he ever decided to seek public office.
The singer, however, said he has no immediate plans to venture into politics, citing what he described as the lack of transparency in the country’s electoral process.
Speaking during a recent livestream with content creator Carter Efe, Davido said he would rather remain focused on his music career than participate in an electoral system he believes is flawed.
He maintained that he would only consider running for office when elections in Nigeria become transparent and credible.
Expressing confidence in his popularity, the award-winning artiste said no opponent could defeat him in a free and fair contest, adding that he could even win a presidential election under such conditions.
Davido also criticised the country’s electoral system, alleging that election results are often manipulated, and said he would be closely monitoring the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.
Despite coming from the politically influential Adeleke family, the singer reiterated that his focus remains on music unless Nigeria’s electoral process becomes more transparent.
