Landmark Africa has unveiled plans to develop the Dream Theatre Entertainment Centre, a proposed 20,000-capacity multipurpose arena at Landmark Village in Oniru, Lagos, in a move aimed at boosting Nigeria’s entertainment, tourism and creative economy.
The proposed facility is designed to serve as a world-class venue for concerts, theatre productions, sporting events, exhibitions, conferences and award ceremonies, further positioning Lagos as West Africa’s leading destination for entertainment and business events.
According to Landmark Africa, the Dream Theatre will form part of its integrated waterfront ecosystem, combining hospitality, leisure, retail and entertainment in a single destination. The project is expected to attract both local and international visitors while supporting the continued growth of Nigeria’s creative industry.
The announcement comes just over two years after Landmark Africa suffered a major setback following the demolition of parts of its Landmark Beach Resort in 2024 to pave the way for the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. At the time, the Federal Government said the affected structures were within the approved right-of-way for the project.
Despite the setback, the company said the proposed Dream Theatre reflects its continued confidence in Nigeria’s future and commitment to investing in tourism, entertainment and urban development.
Beyond providing a world-class event venue, the development is expected to create employment opportunities during construction and operation, stimulate tourism, support hotels, restaurants, transport operators and small businesses, while attracting additional private investment into the surrounding area.
Although still at the conceptual stage, the Dream Theatre is expected to become one of Nigeria’s most iconic entertainment destinations if completed, further strengthening Lagos’ reputation as the entertainment capital of West Africa.
