The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), in collaboration with the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), Nigeria Police Force and military personnel, has dislodged illegal traders and arrested offenders during a follow-up enforcement exercise across Ketu, Mile 12 and Ikorodu.
The multi-agency team, under LAWMA’s Project WISE, conducted the monitoring exercise on Monday, August 10, 2026, revisiting areas previously cleared during a joint operation to prevent traders from reoccupying walkways and other unauthorised public spaces.
The exercise covered Ketu, Ile-Ile, Mile 12, Erunkan, Owode Elede, Owode Onirin, Ogolonto, Agric and Ikorodu.
During the operation, traders who had returned to the cleared locations were dislodged, while several offenders were arrested for violating directives and obstructing efforts to maintain environmental order.
LAWMA said the exercise formed part of the Lagos State Government’s sustained efforts to prevent the reoccupation of cleared areas, reclaim public spaces and enforce environmental regulations.
The authority warned traders and residents against using walkways, medians and other public spaces for trading or storage of goods, urging them to patronise designated markets.
It also assured that monitoring would continue across the affected areas to ensure sustained compliance and promptly address cases of illegal trading and encroachment.
