The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of an armed robbery and carjacking syndicate in the Alakuko area of the state.
The suspects were identified as Faruk Rasheed, 20; Olamilekan Ademola, 28; and Abidemi Oluwawemo, 21.
The command said the suspects were arrested by its operatives following credible intelligence as part of efforts to curb armed robbery, carjacking and other violent crimes across the state.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects allegedly specialised in snatching cars and robbing residents of their valuables.
According to the police, a search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of two locally made pistols loaded with five cartridges and a locally made revolver pistol loaded with three rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
The suspects are currently in police custody, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the alleged syndicate.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reiterated the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and protecting residents across the state.
He urged members of the public to report emergencies and suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines.
