A Magistrate Court sitting in Asokoro on Thursday, sentenced a 25-year-old man, Sabiu Halidu, to six months in prison for criminal trespass and theft.
Halidu, who resides at Anwan Hausawa, Damagaza Village, FCT, pleaded guilty to the three-count charge preferred against him.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Magistrate Abdumajid Oniyangi delivered the judgment after Halidu pleaded guilty.
The magistrate sentenced Halidu to six months imprisonment without an option of fine.
Oniyangi said the sentence would serve as a deterrent to others.
Prosecuting Counsel, L.O. Mohammed, told the court that the convict committed the offences on Sept. 2, and was reported by Stifanus Bitrus of Satire homes, Apo.
Mohammed said the convict, at about 2 a.m., criminally trespassed into an estate at Apo and stole iron rods, vibrating machine and bamboo sticks.
He said the items were valued at N3,030,000.
He said the offences contravened Sections 342, 346 and 286 of the Penal Code Law.
