President Bola Tinubu has called for increased investment by the Bolloré Group in Nigeria’s creative economy, particularly in film, entertainment and digital infrastructure.
Tinubu made the call on Friday during talks with Vincent Bolloré, chairman of the Bolloré Group, in Paris, where the President is currently on a working vacation.
The group’s media and digital interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music, as well as fibre-optic infrastructure and other related sectors.
According to a statement by the President’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, Bolloré and his executives outlined plans to deepen the group’s investments and local operations in Nigeria, which they described as a spearhead of Africa’s cultural renaissance.
The planned expansion will focus on film, entertainment and fibre-optic infrastructure, with the group citing the global growth of Nollywood and Afrobeats and increasing international demand for Nigerian creative content.
Tinubu welcomed the plans, saying greater localisation would increase production, attract investment and create jobs while strengthening Nigeria’s position in the global creative economy.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to economic development, job creation for young Nigerians and digitalisation, stressing that investments that develop local talent and strengthen infrastructure would remain a priority.
The President said such investments could also position Nigeria as a strategic base for businesses seeking to serve the African and global markets.
He added that the Renewed Hope Agenda was focused on building an economy in which Nigerian talent, enterprise and cultural influence translate into greater economic opportunities and improved livelihoods.
