Billionaire businessman and Chairman of First HoldCo Plc, Femi Otedola, has hosted Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, to a private dinner, describing him as the state’s “incoming governor.”

Otedola, in a post on his X account on Monday, October 19, 2026, praised Hamzat’s character and integrity, highlighting their friendship spanning nearly five decades.

The businessman recalled that he and Hamzat shared a bunk bed during their boarding school days 49 years ago, a relationship he said had given him decades of insight into the deputy governor’s personal values.

“Yesterday, I hosted dinner in honour of Dr Obafemi Hamzat, the incoming Governor of Lagos State.

“A man of the highest integrity, with whom I shared a bunk bed at boarding school 49 years ago,” Otedola wrote.

He further described Hamzat as honest, sincere and fair, with strong moral principles, saying these qualities had consistently defined his experience of their longstanding friendship.

The private dinner was also attended by some of Nigeria’s most prominent business leaders, including Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, and Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu.

Otedola’s endorsement comes as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 Lagos State governorship election, in which Hamzat is the APC’s candidate.
