Global mobility platform inDrive has launched a tricycle service, popularly known as Keke, in Nigeria to offer commuters more affordable options for short-distance journeys and create additional income opportunities for drivers.

Announced on September 28, 2026, the service targets trips covering approximately six to seven kilometres, extending the company’s fair-price model to a widely used mode of transportation in the country.

According to the company, the service will focus mainly on short journeys, taking into account existing restrictions on tricycle operations along certain major roads and highways.

Timothy Oladimeji, Country Manager of inDrive Nigeria, said the initiative would make the platform accessible to more commuters while expanding earning opportunities for drivers.

He explained that the service was designed to meet the demand for affordable and accessible transportation, particularly among people travelling short distances within their communities.

“The future of mobility is not simply about moving faster; it is about enabling broader economic participation,” Oladimeji said.

He added that the service would enable passengers to travel locally without stretching their budgets, while providing drivers with another avenue to earn income.

Oladimeji said the company was introducing the service in line with applicable regulations as part of its efforts to expand transportation options for Nigerians.

The launch marks an expansion of inDrive’s services in Nigeria, with tricycles added to its mobility offerings to serve commuters seeking cheaper alternatives for short-distance trips.
