The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) Environmental Enforcement team has issued a default notice, alongside an intention-to-seal order, to Atlantic Blue Hotel, located at Rock Drive, Lekki Phase 1, for non-compliance with waste management regulations.
The notice was served following the hotel’s failure to patronize its assigned Private Sector Participation (PSP) operator for proper waste collection and disposal.
LAWMA will continue to enforce waste management laws aimed at maintaining a clean and sustainable environment across Lagos State.
Establishments are required to partner authorised PSP operators, as stipulated in the state’s waste management policy. This ensures that waste is collected, disposed of responsibly, and processed in line with global environmental best practices.
LAWMA reminds all businesses and residents in Lagos to comply with waste management guidelines by promptly engaging authorised PSP operators and paying their waste management bills on time. Non-compliance disrupts the waste management process and poses a significant threat to the environment and public health.
Defaulting entities, such as Atlantic Blue Hotel, are urged to regularise their waste management arrangements immediately to avoid further sanctions, including the sealing of premises. LAWMA remains resolute in its mission to achieve a cleaner, healthier Lagos and will not hesitate to enforce compliance.
