The family of Adetunji “Teejay” Opayele, Co-founder and CTO of Bumpa, is seeking justice after his tragic death in a road accident on March 4, 2025.

Teejay was riding his power bike home from a workout when a vehicle, driven by Biola Adams-Odutayo, allegedly merged onto Ozumba Mbadiwe way without yielding, crashing into him.

Despite wearing protective gear, Teejay was left unconscious. Witnesses claim Biola, a healthcare professional, refused to check on him and allegedly stated she didn’t want “blood to stain her car.”

Instead, she remained on a phone call for over 30 minutes while good Samaritans struggled to get Teejay medical help.

Teejay was taken to two hospitals, both of which allegedly refused to admit him. Rescuers finally forced Biola to accompany them to another hospital, but by the time they arrived, he was pronounced dead.

The family alleges that Biola has used her connections to avoid facing the full weight of the law. She was initially detained for one night and charged with reckless driving, despite public outrage.

Released on ₦1 million bail, her failure to appear at a police summons on March 17 has intensified demands for accountability.

Teejay’s family is calling for Biola to face manslaughter charges and is urging the Lagos State Ministry of Justice to ensure a transparent legal process. They are also seeking the intervention of the Inspector General of Police and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to prevent a cover-up.

The public is urged to share Teejay’s story and provide any relevant information from the accident scene. Anyone with details can reach out via @justiceforteejay on Facebook, X, Threads, or Instagram.
