inDrive, a global mobility and delivery services platform, has recorded a 96 per cent increase in app installs in Nigeria, emerging as the country’s leading ride-hailing app by installs after Uber announced its exit recently.
According to independent third-party data from Sensor Tower, the growth reflects increasing consumer interest in mobility services that offer affordability, flexibility and greater control over fares.
The platform currently operates in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Benin City, Ibadan, Owerri and Enugu, offering services including Economy, Courier, Comfort, One Click and TukTuk.
Its ride-hailing model allows passengers and drivers to negotiate and agree on fares directly, rather than relying on algorithms to determine ride prices. The company also operates a Delivery service for businesses seeking flexible solutions for transporting packages and goods.
Country Manager of inDrive Nigeria, Timothy Oladimeji, said the company’s growth demonstrates the relevance of its business model to the Nigerian market, where affordability remains a major consideration for consumers.
He said the company was expanding beyond ride-hailing to build a wider mobility and delivery ecosystem serving passengers, drivers and businesses.
“The growth we have recorded reflects the strength of our model and our deep understanding of the Nigerian market. While the market continues to evolve, our focus remains on giving passengers greater choice, flexibility, and access to affordable, reliable mobility, while creating flexible earning opportunities for drivers,” Oladimeji said.
He added that inDrive would continue investing in safety, service quality, technology and its driver and business communities as it strengthens its operations in Nigeria.
The company said it operates with one of the lowest service fees in the ride-hailing market, while allowing drivers and passengers to determine the final fare themselves.
Globally, the inDrive app has been downloaded more than 400 million times and operates in 1,065 cities across 48 countries. Its services include ride-hailing, intercity transportation, delivery and financial services.
