NDLEA arrests Lekki-based kingpin, seizes illicit drugs across Nigeria

A Lekki-based businessman, Arokodare Damil Ebenezer, has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for allegedly shipping 60 parcels of Loud, a strong strain of cannabis, from the United States to Nigeria.

The 43-year-old businessman was caught at Bay Lounge, Admiralty Way, Lekki, Lagos, while expecting delivery of his latest drug consignment.

The arrest followed the seizure of his cargo, which arrived in Nigeria in seven big cartons at a logistics company in Lagos on March 12.

A search of his Lekki home uncovered 94 grams of cannabis, a cannabis crusher, and other drug paraphernalia, bringing the total weight of seized drugs to 32.24 kilograms.

In a related development, another businessman, Omoruyi Terry, was intercepted at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, while attempting to export 1,400 pills of tramadol 225mg weighing 800 grams to Italy.

Other Notable Arrests and Seizures:

– Katsina: Four suspects – Baraka Abubakar, Haruna Alitine, Muhammad Babangida, and Hamisu Lawal – were arrested in Godai village, Daura LGA, with 684 blocks of compressed skunk weighing 423kg and 86,000 pills of diazepam.
– Edo: 13,198 kilograms of cannabis sativa were destroyed in forests across the state, with 158kg evacuated for possible prosecution.
– Niger: 179 blocks of compressed skunk weighing 77.6kg were seized from two suspects – Paul Christopher and Lucky Star Anumie – along the Mokwa-Jebba road.
– Enugu: 108.5kg of skunk was recovered from lockup shops at Aria New Market, Enugu metropolis.
– Kwara: 25kg of skunk was seized from a suspect, Abdulrazak Saka, at Kilako Area, Ilorin.
– Oyo: A suspect, Suli Saheed, was arrested with 2.5 kilograms of Ghanaian Loud and 515 grams of Colorado at Olomi Academy area, Ibadan.

Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the officers and men of the agency for their operational successes and extended Eid-el-Fitr greetings to them and their families.
