The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has launched an enforcement drive to remove illegal structures across the state, following the expiration of the amnesty period granted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The exercise kicked off in Ogudu GRA, where officials enforced compliance with urban planning regulations.

According to Arc. Gbolahan Owodunni Oki, Permanent Secretary of LASBCA, the agency aims to restore order to the state’s physical planning landscape and ensure resident safety.

Property owners with illegal structures were given ample time to obtain necessary approvals and comply with building regulations, with several notices served before the enforcement action.

LASBCA warned that the enforcement drive will continue across the state, targeting unapproved structures, environmental degradation, and safety risks.

The agency reiterated its commitment to maintaining a well-structured and safe urban environment, aligning with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s Developmental Agenda.

Property owners and developers are urged to adhere to building regulations to avoid facing similar enforcement actions.

The agency assured that affected buildings were duly marked and issued notices months in advance, with clear directives on compliance requirements.
