The Lagos State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has scheduled its chairmanship primaries for Friday, ahead of the upcoming July 12 Local Government elections in the state.
State Chairman of the party, Pastor Dayo Ekong, made the announcement during an interview on Thursday in Lagos.
According to Ekong, the primaries will be held in each of the local council areas, and the party will adopt an indirect, delegate-based system to select its chairmanship candidates.
“Our councillorship primaries are taking place today (Thursday) across all wards, while the chairmanship primaries will follow tomorrow (Friday) in all local government areas,” she said.
Ekong emphasized the party’s commitment to conducting free, fair, and transparent primary elections.
“We are confident of a good outing in the election,” she added.
The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) is scheduled to conduct the elections across 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) of the state.
