Agency Vows Relentless Crackdown on Miscreants, Reaffirms Zero Tolerance for Criminality

In a continued effort to rid Lagos of environmental infractions and criminal elements, the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit, popularly known as the Lagos State Taskforce, carried out a major enforcement and clean-up operation in the early hours of Friday, June 20, 2025.

The raid, which began at exactly 12:35 a.m., was led by the Chairman of the Agency, CSP Adetayo Akerele. It targeted notorious flashpoints including the railway corridor, Oke Koto, Isale Oja, AP Roundabout, and several adjoining streets within the Agege axis—areas repeatedly flagged by residents for high levels of criminal activity and environmental nuisance.

Following a swift and coordinated operation, eighty-four (84) suspects—comprising eighty-two (82) males and two (2) females—were apprehended. Law and order were promptly restored across all affected locations.

Addressing the press after the exercise, CSP Akerele reiterated the Agency’s unwavering commitment to reclaiming public spaces and ensuring the safety of Lagosians.

“We will not retreat or surrender to criminal elements. Recalcitrant violators of the law must desist or face the full weight of justice,” he stated firmly.

He further disclosed that the operation is part of a larger tactical plan to conduct at least three enforcement exercises every week in various parts of the State, with the goal of eradicating illegal activities and enhancing public confidence.

All arrested suspects have since been charged to court in line with legal provisions.

The Lagos State Taskforce remains resolute in its mission to deliver a cleaner, safer, and more orderly environment for all residents of the State.
